Hands on - Super Nes Classic Mini

Well, as promised I've received that little machine yesterday and I'm fairly pleased thus far with it. There's indeed the 21 games advertised on the box. And going back to the feeling of it - let's just say that it just kicks ass. Well honestly I don't know what I can say that hasn't been said thus far.

However, everything that you've read thus far about it is true. The feeling that goes with it is a blast and relieving a long gone era is something that is bringing back loads of good memories. For the tech portion of it, its using the same tech that was into the Nes Classic Mini, which makes the console hackable as all hell.

Speaking of which, we're just a week away of getting an Hackchi2 so basically the modder will be able to add more games by flashing the kernel of the console in a similar way that was done before. Nothing too weird.

Perhaps I'd load myself that way the collections of games that I have or just my favorite and rarest carts I have so i can avoid damaging them. For the moment the console is awesome, that's a fact. Tough to be obtain is another one but the sheer feeling of being the lucky ones to get one of these is just immense and it feels just like opening the OG system all these years ago.

Opening the box reveal, different manuals than you would have had in 90's with a cover art resembling more the SFC (Super FamiCom), 2 of them to go in all languages of course and other 300 points Nintendo card as well. But the real collectible is the box of the console in itself.

And what do you get aside from that ?

So what do you get, two controllers, they feel EXACTLY what they should. And like most new controllers for SNES feels like - an HDMI lead Branded Nintendo on one side (which is cool), a USB lead and of course the console that goes with it.

The package is condensed and both the Power and Reset button can be pressed. The Eject and cartridge port are of course dummy ones and cannot function. Nintendo if there's something to be done around these lines someday do it - if you thought this one was selling like hot cakes nothing would compare to the hypothetical console.

The Power button is being used to power the button - wow really ? -  And the reset is using it as a return to menu and suspended game image which is your save state. (Caution advised when using games with in cartridge save -  if you're making a suspended image before your save point - the save point will be erased from the game entirely)

it's funny to see that all of the games on my PAL/Euro console is actually the US versions of these games as such there's Contra III : The Alien Wars rather than Super Probotector, back in the day in Europe and mostly in Germany the laws about human killing humans in video games were tough and it was decided to use robots instead -  just a fun trivia.

Is the console worth your labor, Yes it is. Is it worth paying a scalper double its price, probably not some of the consoles out there are double if not triple the price in US, in Europe the scalpers made it so you need to spend 2 times the retail. A nice little package that is for now easier to find than its predecessor with that said.
